Lu Ji (261-303 CE) was a Chinese poet, literary theorist, and philosopher. He is best known for his work Wen Fu (The Art of Writing), an important treatise on poetry and literature. He also wrote several poems and essays on philosophy, history, and politics. Lu Ji was born into a wealthy family in present-day Jiangsu Province and studied at the court of Emperor Wu of Jin. He developed a reputation as a brilliant scholar and was appointed to various official positions, but his life ended tragically when he was executed for his involvement in a failed rebellion against the Jin dynasty. Despite his short life, Lu Ji's contributions to Chinese literature and philosophy have had a lasting impact.
